It is my hope to provide support to expectant persons and their partners as they walk the journey of preparing for a new child and during the postpartum period, through education of their options, providing resources, information and referrals to other birth professionals, and providing non-judgmental support during this exciting time.
I originally trained as a birth doula with DONA International, and was certified through DONA for eight years. I also trained and certified as a childbirth educator with Lamaze International for nine and a half years. I chose not to renew with them due to greatly increased membership and recertification fees with both organizations. I have been a National Board Certified Teacher through National Board for Professional Teaching Standards since 2009. I also hold a certificate in Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders from Postpartum Support International
I have supported expectant persons through birth doula support and childbirth education since the spring of 2013. I have been a childbirth educator at UNC North Carolina Women’s Hospital since the spring of 2014.
I am mother to two beautiful children, who came into this world after their own amazing and unique birth experiences. With the support of my former partner and doulas, both of my labors and births have been by far the most empowering experiences of my life. Aside from birth, I am also passionate about breastfeeding, yoga, and helping women with perinatal mood and anxiety disorders. When I am not working in the “birth” world, I am a school library media coordinator and tech contact. I also enjoy reading, quilting, kayaking, hiking, letterboxing and watching movies.
